Discover more about Kühlungsborn Pier

The Kühlungsborn Pier, or Seebrücke Kühlungsborn, is a prominent landmark and a focal point for visitors to this picturesque Baltic seaside resort. Stretching 240 meters into the Baltic Sea, the pier provides breathtaking views of the coastline, the town, and the surrounding areas. Inaugurated on October 3, 1991, in the presence of about 3,000 people, the pier holds the distinction of being the first pier completed in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern after the reunification of Germany. However, Kühlungsborn had piers before. The first wooden piers were built around 1895, but they were frequently damaged by ice. A pier constructed in 1929, and its successor, were both destroyed by severe winter weather by 1942. Today's pier is a popular place for locals and tourists. Stroll along the pier's wooden planks, breathe in the fresh sea air, and enjoy the rhythmic sound of the waves. The pier is also a favorite spot for anglers. Boat trips to Warnemünde and Rerik depart from the pier. The pier and the adjacent Pier Square are a venue for events, including Kühlungsborn's New Year's Eve party.
