Humboldt Box: A Window to Berlin's Future (Deconstructed)
A neoclassical bridge in Berlin's heart, adorned with sculptures, connecting history and culture on Unter den Linden.
The Schlossbrücke (Palace Bridge), designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel, spans the Spree River in Berlin's Mitte district. Completed in 1824, it connects Unter den Linden with Museum Island and features eight marble sculptures depicting a warrior's life.
Opening times, essentials, and a few local tips gathered into one calmer, easier-to-scan planning section.
Walking
The Schlossbrücke is located at the eastern end of Unter den Linden, making it easily accessible by foot from many central Berlin landmarks. From the Brandenburg Gate, walk east along Unter den Linden for approximately 15-20 minutes. The bridge will be directly ahead, marking the entrance to Museum Island.
Public Transport
The Schlossbrücke is well-served by public transport. Take the U-Bahn (U5) to the 'Unter den Linden' station, which is located directly on Unter den Linden boulevard. Alternatively, several bus lines (100, 200, 300) stop nearby. From any of these stops, it's a short walk to the bridge. A single fare within zones A and B costs €3.80.
Taxi
Taxis are readily available throughout Berlin. A taxi ride to Schlossbrücke from a central location like Alexanderplatz will cost approximately €9-14, depending on traffic. The base fare is €4.30, plus €2.80 per kilometer for the first 3km. Note that short trips (Kurzstrecke) up to 2km, if hailed on the street, have a fixed rate of €6.
