Bus
If you are near Potsdam Hauptbahnhof (the main train station), take Bus 605 in the direction of 'S-Bahnhof Spandau'. After approximately 20 minutes, get off at the stop 'S-Bahnhof Potsdam'. From there, transfer to Bus 631 towards 'Babelsberg', and get off at the stop 'Potsdam, Am Alten Markt'. Gendarmenmarkt is just a short 5-minute walk from there. Head northeast on Am Alten Markt, then turn left onto Breite Straße which will lead you directly to Gendarmenmarkt.

From the center of Potsdam, walk to the nearest tram stop 'Unter den Linden' and take Tram 93 towards 'S Potsdam Griebnitzsee'. After about 10 minutes, disembark at 'S Potsdam Hauptbahnhof'. From the Hauptbahnhof, you can either catch Bus 605 or take a short walk to the nearby Gendarmenmarkt, which is approximately 15 minutes away on foot. Walk northeast along Breite Straße, and you'll reach Gendarmenmarkt.

If you are in the center of Potsdam, you can easily walk to Gendarmenmarkt. Start at the historic Brandenburg Gate (Brandenburger Tor) and head east along Brandenburger Straße. Continue straight until it intersects with Breite Straße. Turn right on Breite Straße and walk for about 10 minutes. Gendarmenmarkt will be on your left. This walk will take you through some charming parts of the city.
