Driving
The most direct way to reach Eltz Castle is by car. Navigate to 'Burg Eltz, Wierschem' which will lead you to the castle car park. From the A48 motorway, take exit 6 (Mayen) towards Münstermaifeld, then follow signs to Burg Eltz via Wierschem. Parking costs €4 for cars and motorbikes, and €8 for larger vehicles like camper vans. From the car park, it's approximately a 1.3km walk to the castle entrance, either via a paved road or a scenic forest path. A shuttle bus is available from the parking lot to the castle for €2 per person, each way (cash only).
Public Transport
To reach Eltz Castle via public transport, take a train to Hatzenport Bahnhof. From there, the RegioBus line 365 runs directly to the Burg Eltz car park from April 1st to November 1st. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes. In 2025, a single bus fare from Hatzenport to Wierschem, Burg Eltz is €5.10. A return ticket is €5.20. From the car park, you can walk to the castle (1.3km) or take the shuttle bus for €2 per person, each way (cash only).
Taxi/Ride-Share
If arriving by train to Moselkern or Hatzenport, taxis are available, but advance booking is highly recommended. A taxi from either Moselkern or Hatzenport to Burg Eltz will cost approximately €30. From Koblenz, expect to pay around €70. Remember to confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey.
