Walking
If you are starting from the Essen Hauptbahnhof (main train station), exit the station and head southwest on Altendorfer Str. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Gladbecker Str. Turn right onto Gladbecker Str. and follow it until you reach the end of the street. At the end, turn left onto Wilhelminenstr. After about 500 meters, you will see a sign for the U-Bahn (subway) station. Board the U11 line towards Bredeney. Get off at the second stop, 'Kettwig,' and transfer to bus line 145 heading towards 'Wesel.' After about 20 minutes, get off at the 'Großer Markt' stop. The square will be in front of you.

From the Essen city center, walk to the 'Kettwiger Tor' tram stop. Take tram line 102 towards 'Marlies-Hölscher-Str.' and ride it until you reach the 'Kettwig' stop. From there, switch to bus line 145 towards 'Wesel.' After approximately 15 minutes, get off at the 'Großer Markt' stop. You will see the town square as you exit the bus.
