Walking
Start from the Heidelberg Altstadt (Old Town) area. Head east on Hauptstraße towards the intersection with Plöck. Continue straight until you reach the Neckar river. At the riverbank, turn left and walk along the riverside promenade (Neckarwiese) for approximately 1.5 kilometers. You will pass several beautiful views of the river and the old bridge. Follow the path until you see the bridge called Alte Brücke. Cross the bridge and continue straight onto Schlierbacher Landstraße. After crossing the bridge, the Staustufe & Schleuse Heidelberg will be located on your right side at Schlierbacher Landstraße 1.
Public Transport
From Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof (Main Train Station), take tram line 5 towards 'Heidelberg Handschuhsheim'. Get off at the 'Schlierbach' stop. From the tram stop, walk southwest on Schlierbacher Landstraße. The Staustufe & Schleuse Heidelberg will be about a 10-minute walk down this road, located at Schlierbacher Landstraße 1.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike in the city. Start at the Bismarckplatz and head towards the Neckar river. Follow the bike path along the river heading east. Continue until you reach Alte Brücke, cross the bridge, and then follow Schlierbacher Landstraße. The Staustufe & Schleuse Heidelberg will be on your right after a short ride of approximately 10-15 minutes.
