Funicular Railway
The most scenic way to reach Königstuhl is via the Heidelberg Mountain Railway (Heidelberger Bergbahn). Starting from Kornmarkt in the Old Town, take the funicular, which stops at Heidelberg Castle before continuing to the Königstuhl summit. A round trip 'Panorama ticket' (Kornmarkt – Castle – Molkenkur – Königstuhl) costs €16 for adults. Keep in mind that the Heidelberger Bergbahnen will be undergoing a major overhaul up to and including March 28, 2025.
Public Transport
Alternatively, take bus line 39 from Bismarckplatz directly to the Königstuhl summit. The bus runs hourly from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. A single ticket costs approximately €3.
Taxi/Ride-Share
From Heidelberg's city center, a taxi or ride-share to Königstuhl will cost approximately €18-€22 and takes around 10 minutes.
Driving
If driving, follow signs for Königstuhl from the city center (Bismarckplatz). Parking is available near the summit, with fees ranging from €2-€5 for the day.
