The Berlin Wall: A Historic Remembrance at Schwedter Strasse

Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from Pomerania to The Berlin Wall at Schwedter Strasse, take the A11 motorway towards Berlin. After approximately 1.5 hours, merge onto the A100 at the exit toward Berlin-Zentrum. Continue on A100 for about 10 km, then take the exit toward B96. Drive straight until you reach Bernauer Strasse. The Berlin Wall is at Bernauer Str. 50, 10435 Berlin. Parking is available nearby, but check for any fees, which may cost around €1-2 per hour.

• Train

  To reach The Berlin Wall by train from Pomerania, first, head to the nearest major train station (like Szczecin or Greifswald). From there, take a train to Berlin Hauptbahnhof (Berlin Central Station). The journey typically takes around 2-3 hours. Once at Berlin Hauptbahnhof, switch to the S-Bahn (S-Bahn line S8, S9, or S5) towards Alexanderplatz. Get off at the Nordbahnhof station. From Nordbahnhof, it's about a 15-minute walk to Bernauer Str. 50, where the Berlin Wall is located.

• Bus

  If you prefer to travel by bus, you can take a long-distance bus from Pomerania to Berlin. Companies like FlixBus operate routes that take approximately 2-3 hours. Once you arrive at the central bus station in Berlin (ZOB), you can take the U-Bahn line U2 from ZOB to Zoologischer Garten, then switch to the S-Bahn line S5 or S7, heading towards Nordbahnhof. Get off at Nordbahnhof and walk about 15 minutes to reach Bernauer Str. 50.

• Public Transportation (Local)

  After arriving in Berlin, use the BVG transport system. Purchase a day pass (around €8.80) for unlimited travel on S-Bahn, U-Bahn, buses, and trams. From Nordbahnhof, you can also take the tram M10 towards Warschauer Str. and get off at the 'Bernauer Str.' stop, which is just a short walk from the Berlin Wall.
