Established in 1785, it stands as the oldest functioning water-powered distillery in the Caribbean. The estate provides an engaging tour of the traditional rum-making process, from sugarcane harvesting to fermentation and bottling.Visitors can witness the original waterwheel in action, powering the distillery as it has for over two centuries. The tour guides share the fascinating history of the estate, the rum-making process, and the importance of rum in Grenadian culture. The distillery produces some of the finest and most sought-after rums in the Caribbean, crafted using age-old techniques. The estate is committed to organic and sustainable farming practices, using only locally grown sugarcane.The primary product is crystal clear Royal Grenadian Rum, offered in two strengths: 150 proof (75% alcohol) and 138 proof (69% alcohol). The rum is known for its strong, botanical taste. After the tour, visitors have the opportunity to sample the estate's signature varieties. The bottles are recycled and refilled, and the leftover sugarcane stalks, called bagasse, are put to good use.
