Mount Jumullong Manglo Travel Guide

Mount Jumullong Manglo, often shortened to Mount Jumullong, rises 391 meters (1,283 ft) above sea level in southwestern Guam. While it's the island's second-highest peak after Mount Lamlam, Jumullong Manglo is arguably the more frequently hiked. This is due to its religious significance and stunning 360-degree views.The mountain holds deep cultural importance for the indigenous Chamorro people, serving as a site for ancient rituals and ceremonies. Today, it's known for the series of crosses that mark the Stations of the Cross, commemorating the events leading up to Jesus' crucifixion. Every Good Friday, a large crowd of Catholic pilgrims makes the trek to the summit, carrying a new cross to add to those already standing at the top.The hike, generally considered moderate, takes about 30-40 minutes to the top, or around 2 hours to complete, allowing for rest stops. The trail passes a Virgin Mary grotto, where hikers can light candles and offer prayers.
