Discover more about Latte of Freedom

The Latte of Freedom stands as a proud symbol of Guam and its unique Chamorro heritage. Inspired by Governor Ricardo J. Bordallo's vision to create an American monument reflecting Chamorro culture, it serves as Guam's version of the Statue of Liberty, welcoming visitors from Asia. The monument's design incorporates the latte stone, an ancient Chamorro building foundation, representing strength and endurance. The Latte of Freedom was completed in 2010 and is located at the Ricardo J. Bordallo Governor's Complex in Adelup. The structure is made of reinforced concrete and steel beams, designed to withstand typhoons and earthquakes. Inside, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Guam's western coastline. The monument also features a Hall of Governors, commemorating the leaders of Guam since the 1950 Organic Act. While the original plan envisioned a 200-foot tower with various facilities, the current 80-foot structure offers a more modest experience. However, it remains a significant landmark, representing the resilience and cultural pride of the Chamorro people.
