Getting There

    From the central park (Parque Centroamericano) in Quetzaltenango, walk to the nearby bus terminal located on Calle 3a. Avenida. Look for the buses heading to Santiago Atitlán. The ticket price is usually around 30-50 quetzales. Once you board the bus, enjoy the scenic ride, which takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. The bus will drop you off at the dock in Santiago Atitlán. From there, you will need to take a small boat across Lake Atitlán to reach the main town.

  • Shared Van (Colectivo)

    Head to the terminal located near Parque Central, where you will find shared vans (colectivos) that travel to Santiago Atitlán. This option is often faster than the bus and might cost a little more, around 50-70 quetzales. The vans leave when full, so you might wait a short while. The journey takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. The van will drop you near the dock in Santiago Atitlán, from which you can take a boat to your final destination.
