Car
If you are traveling by car within the Kanuku Mountains, head towards Lethem first. Follow the main road south until you reach the junction for Upper Takutu & Ireng River. Once you turn onto this road, continue for approximately 12 km. Watch for signs indicating Waikin Ranch, which is located near the river. There may be unpaved sections, so ensure your vehicle can handle rough terrain.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, start by taking a bus or minibus from Georgetown to Lethem. This journey typically takes around 12-15 hours. Once in Lethem, you can catch a local taxi or hire a private vehicle to take you to Waikin Ranch. Inform the driver that you wish to go to Upper Takutu & Ireng River. The drive should take about 30 minutes.
Walking
If you are already near the area but lack transportation, you may choose to walk from Lethem. The distance to Waikin Ranch is roughly 8 km. Follow the main road towards Upper Takutu & Ireng River, and look for directional signs as you approach the ranch. Ensure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water, as it can be hot during the day.
