For a budget-friendly option from La Ceiba, take a local bus heading towards communities upriver. From the CA13 highway, just after crossing the 'Puente Saopin' (Cangrejal River Bridge), you'll find a road leading towards the mountains where you can wait for a bus. Buses are infrequent (3-4 per day, with the last one around 3:30 PM) and cost approximately 25 Lempiras (around $1 USD). Ensure the bus is going far enough up the Cangrejal River Valley to reach your accommodation. Be prepared for a bumpy ride and dusty conditions. After 3:30 PM, you will need to hitchhike or take a taxi.

If driving from La Ceiba, take the CA13 highway east towards Trujillo and Tocoa. Immediately after crossing the 'Puente Saopin' (Cangrejal River Bridge), turn left (north) onto the dirt road ('carretera a la Cuenca del Cangrejal') leading into the Cangrejal River Valley. Most tourism-related businesses are located between kilometers 6 and 9. Parking is generally available at lodges and near trailheads, often free of charge. Be aware that the road is unpaved and can be rough, especially during the rainy season. A pickup truck is preferable, but most cars can manage with caution.
