Getting There

  • Public Transport

    If you are starting from Budapest city center, take the metro Line 2 (the red line) from Deák Ferenc tér station towards Déli pályaudvar. Get off at the next stop, which is Széll Kálmán tér. Exit the station and follow the signs to the bus terminal. From there, you can take bus number 16 or 16A. These buses will take you directly to the Castle District. Get off at the 'Szentháromság tér' stop, which is located close to the main attractions of the Castle District.

  • Walking

    If you are near the Chain Bridge (Lánchíd), you can walk to the Castle District by heading up the hill. Cross the Chain Bridge and follow the path that leads up to the Buda Castle. The walk will take approximately 20-30 minutes, and you will have a beautiful view of the Danube River and the city as you ascend. Once you reach the top, you will find yourself in the Castle District, where you can explore the historical sites.

  • Funicular

    From the Chain Bridge, you can also take the funicular railway (Funi) from Clark Ádám tér to the top of the hill. The funicular station is located at the base of the Buda Castle. The ride takes about 1-2 minutes and offers stunning views of the city. Once you reach the top, you will be in the Castle District, near the Royal Palace and other attractions.
