Getting There

  • Car

    From central Nyírség, head towards the nearest main road and take the route towards Budapest. Follow the M3 motorway towards Budapest for approximately 2 hours. Once in Budapest, take the exit towards Szentendrei út. Continue on Szentendrei út and follow signs for Margit-sziget (Margaret Island). There is limited parking available near the entrance to the island, so be prepared for potential parking fees.

    Start by taking a local bus or tram to Nyíregyháza train station. From there, board a train to Budapest. The journey will take approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. Once you arrive at Budapest's Nyugati Railway Station, exit the station and take tram line 4 or 6 towards Széll Kálmán tér. Get off at the 'Margit híd, budai hídfő' stop. From there, you can walk to the entrance of Margit-sziget. Note that tram tickets cost around 350 HUF and train tickets may vary based on the service chosen.
