Public Transport
From Tatabánya, head to the Tatabánya train station (Tatabánya Vasútállomás). You can reach the station by walking or taking a local bus. Once at the station, purchase a train ticket to Visegrád. Take the train towards Budapest, and get off at the stop called Visegrád. From Visegrád train station, you can either take a local bus or walk towards Várhegy. If walking, follow the signs towards the castle, which is approximately a 30-minute walk uphill along the road. The castle will be visible as you approach.

If you are already in Visegrád, start from the town center. Head northwest on Fő utca until you reach the intersection with Várhegy. Turn right onto Várhegy, and continue walking uphill. The path will lead you directly to Visegrád Castle. The walk is steep, so be prepared for a bit of a climb. The castle is well marked, and you will see signs along the way.

If you prefer a more direct route, consider taking a taxi from Tatabánya to Visegrád. You can call a local taxi service or ask your accommodation to arrange one for you. The taxi will take you directly to Várhegy, the location of Visegrád Castle. The journey may take approximately 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic.

From Tatabánya, you can also take a local bus to Visegrád. Head to the nearest bus stop and look for the bus heading towards Visegrád. Upon arriving in Visegrád, ask the driver or local residents for directions to Várhegy. The bus ride will take around 40 minutes, and from the bus stop in Visegrád, it’s a short walk to the castle.
