Car
If you are traveling by car, Borgarfjarðarhöfn is located in Bakkagerði, East Fjords. From Egilsstaðir, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading east. After approximately 40 kilometers, turn left onto Route 93 towards Seyðisfjörður. Continue for about 21 kilometers until you reach a junction; take the right fork towards Bakkagerði. Follow the signs for Bakkagerði, and after around 20 kilometers, you will arrive at Borgarfjarðarhöfn. There is no toll or parking fee in this area.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, check the local bus timetables, as services may vary. The nearest bus station is in Egilsstaðir. From Egilsstaðir, take the bus toward Seyðisfjörður. After reaching Seyðisfjörður, you will need to catch a second bus that services Bakkagerði. Be sure to confirm the schedule in advance, as public transport may not run frequently. The total cost for the bus journey can range from 3,000 to 5,000 ISK depending on the route and operator.
Taxi
Alternatively, consider hiring a taxi for a more direct route. Taxis are available in Egilsstaðir and can take you directly to Borgarfjarðarhöfn. This option is more expensive, typically costing between 15,000 to 20,000 ISK, but it provides flexibility in timing and comfort.
