Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the nearest major town, Egilsstaðir. Head south on Route 1 (the Ring Road) for about 20 kilometers. Then turn onto Route 93 towards Kárahnjúkar. Follow Route 93 for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the parking area for Magnahellir. Be aware that the last segment may require a 4x4 vehicle due to rough terrain.
Public Transportation
Public transportation options are limited. From Egilsstaðir, take a bus to Reyðarfjörður. Once in Reyðarfjörður, you can try to arrange a local taxi or shuttle service to take you to Kárahnjúkar. Make sure to check the local bus schedules in advance, as they may not run frequently. The taxi fare may vary, so be prepared for potential costs.
Hiking
If you're feeling adventurous and you're already at the Kárahnjúkar area, consider hiking from the parking area to the cave.
