Turn right onto Route 998, which leads to Skaftafell National Park. Follow this road for about 14 km until you reach the parking area for Svartifoss. Please note that there is a parking fee of approximately 750 ISK.
Public Transportation
From Hengifoss, you will need to take a bus to Höfn. Check local bus schedules for times to ensure you have a connection. Once in Höfn, transfer to a bus heading towards Skaftafell National Park. This may require checking the schedules in advance as services can be limited. Upon arrival at Skaftafell, follow the marked hiking trails to Svartifoss, which is about a 1-hour hike from the visitor center.
Hiking
If you are already at the parking area of Skaftafell National Park, you can hike to Svartifoss. The trail is well-marked and takes about 1 hour to reach the waterfall. The hike is moderately challenging with some inclines, so wear appropriate footwear and bring water.
