    Getting There

    Car

    From Hengifoss Waterfall, head back to the main road (Route 1) by following the signs. Once you reach Route 1, turn left and continue driving for approximately 18 kilometers until you reach the turn-off for Route 931. Follow Route 931 for about 10 kilometers. Watch for signs indicating Reykjafoss, which is located near Vindheimamelar. There is parking available near the waterfall. Note that the road conditions can vary, so be cautious and check for any alerts regarding road accessibility.

    Public Transportation

    If you prefer public transportation, you can take a bus from Egilsstaðir to the closest stop to Hengifoss. From there, you will need to either walk or hitchhike to the entrance of the Hengifoss hiking trail. Once at the trailhead, hike up to Hengifoss and retrace your steps back to the main road. You can then catch a bus heading towards Egilsstaðir again, but be sure to check the bus schedules in advance as they may not run frequently. To reach Reykjafoss from the bus stop, you will need to walk approximately 2 kilometers along the main road, so wear comfortable shoes.
