Ferne Clyffe Lake is located within Ferne Clyffe State Park, accessible via Illinois Route 37, one mile south of Goreville. From I-57, take exit 40 (Goreville) and head east for 5 miles to IL-37, then turn south. The park entrance is one mile south of Goreville on IL-37. Follow the signs to the main parking area, and then proceed to the designated lake access area. Parking is free within the state park. Be aware that the park gates may close during heavy snow or ice.

From the main parking area at Ferne Clyffe State Park, follow the main trail east, away from the visitor center. Continue for approximately 0.5 miles, following the signs for Ferne Clyffe Lake. The well-marked trail passes through a beautiful woodland. After about 15 minutes, you will reach the lake. There are no fees for accessing the trail or the lake.
