Quarters One, located on Rock Island Arsenal, is a historic mansion that once served as the residence for the Arsenal's highest-ranking officer. Completed in 1872, this Italianate-style villa is the second-largest single-family government residence in the United States, after the White House, and has hosted numerous distinguished guests throughout its history. Today, it hosts community functions and offers a glimpse into the lives of those who shaped the Arsenal's legacy.

Driving
To reach Quarters One, enter Rock Island Arsenal through the Moline Gate. All visitors aged 18 and older without a Department of Defense ID must obtain a visitor pass at the Moline Gate Visitor Welcome Center, presenting a valid state identification card, driver's license, or U.S. passport. After obtaining a pass, follow the main road (Rodman Avenue) and turn onto Gillespie Street. Quarters One will be on the left. There is no fee for parking.
Walking
After entering Rock Island Arsenal through the Moline Gate and obtaining a visitor pass (if required) , walking to Quarters One is an option. From the Moline Gate, follow Rodman Avenue. Turn right onto Gillespie Street. Quarters One will be on the left, approximately a 15-20 minute walk. Note that the Arsenal is a large area, so wear comfortable shoes. There are no costs associated with walking.
