From River Bend, head southwest on IL-3 S. Continue on IL-3 S for approximately 9 miles. Take the exit towards Alton, merging onto IL-140 W. After about 3 miles, turn left onto Locks and Dam Way. The National Great Rivers Museum will be on your right at 1 Locks and Dam Way, Alton, IL 62002. Parking is available on-site.

If you are using public transportation, first take the Riverbend Transit bus route 1 heading towards Alton. You will need to ask the driver for a stop near the Alton Public Library. From the library, it’s approximately a 10-minute walk. Head southwest on E 3rd St, then turn left onto Piasa St. Follow Piasa St until it merges with Lock & Dam Way. The museum will be on your left. Be mindful of the bus schedule as service may vary, and ensure you have the exact fare, which is usually around $1.00 per ride.
