If you're traveling by car within Shawnee National Forest, head towards Route 34 from the nearest main road. Once you reach Route 34, take it southeast until you reach the intersection with Route 146. Turn left onto Route 146, and continue driving. The Illinois Iron Furnace will be on your right-hand side shortly after the intersection. The site is located at Route 146 & 34, Elizabethtown, IL 62931. There are no parking fees to visit the site.
