The CIDCO Planning Vision

CIDCO Colony emerged from Maharashtra’s post-independence programme of planned urban development. The City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra was established in 1970 to create and manage new urban areas, and its work in Aurangabad formed a modern extension beyond the historic core. This development also shifted the experience of Aurangabad from a largely old-city-centred settlement towards a more dispersed urban form.
