The Rise of Planned Cidco

Cidco’s identity emerged from the planned expansion of Aurangabad during the later twentieth century. The City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra, commonly known as CIDCO, was established to support urban development beyond established city centres, and its work in Aurangabad helped create a new residential and institutional landscape. Instead of reproducing the irregular street pattern of the old city, the township was laid out through numbered sectors, wider roads and separated plots for housing, commerce and public facilities.
