History of Osmanpura

A Name Shaped by the Nizam Era

The name Osmanpura is generally understood in relation to Osman Ali Khan, the last Nizam of Hyderabad, whose reign lasted from 1911 until the integration of Hyderabad State into India in 1948. As with many locality names in the former Hyderabad State, the name reflects the political and administrative world in which the area developed, although Osmanpura was not itself a princely capital or a major royal centre.
