Taxis will drop you off about half a mile from the monastery entrance, from where it is an uphill walk. Expect to pay between ₹2510 and ₹4900 for a taxi from Gangtok to Rumtek Monastery.     Take a shared taxi or a bus from Gangtok to Rumtek Monastery. Shared taxis are available from the Gangtok Taxi Jeep Service Stand near Hotel Hungry Jack on NH31A between 10 AM and 2 PM. The SNT bus departs from Gangtok at 4 PM and returns the next day at 8 AM. From the bus stop, it is about a half-hour walk to the monastery. Bus fare will be around ₹300-₹400.
