Car
If you are driving, take the NH10 (National Highway 10) from Gangtok towards Rangpo. After approximately 22 km, look for signs directing you towards Rumtek Monastery. Follow the signs for another 10 km until you reach Rumtek Dharma Chakra Centre. There is ample parking available at the monastery.
Public Bus
From Gangtok, you can catch a local bus from the Sikkim National Transport (SNT) bus station to Rumtek. The bus service is frequent, and the fare is quite economical (around ₹30-₹50). The journey will take about 1 hour. Make sure to inform the conductor that you are going to Rumtek so they can drop you at the right stop.
Shared Taxi
Another option is to take a shared taxi from Gangtok to Rumtek. You can find shared taxis at the taxi stand near the SNT bus station. The fare is around ₹200 per person and the ride will take about 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. Taxis leave once they are full, so you may have to wait a bit.
Walking from Rumtek Town
If you are already in Rumtek town, you can walk to the Rumtek Dharma Chakra Centre. It is approximately 2 km from the town center. Follow the main road leading up to the monastery; it is a scenic walk that takes about 30-40 minutes. Be mindful of the altitude and wear comfortable shoes.
