The Indian Naval Aviation Museum in Goa, located in Bogmalo near Vasco da Gama, stands as a tribute to the evolution and achievements of the Indian Naval Air Arm. Inaugurated in 1998, it is one of only two military aviation museums in India and the only naval aviation museum in Asia. The museum is divided into two main sections: an outdoor exhibit and a two-story indoor gallery. The outdoor exhibit features a collection of 13 decommissioned aircraft, including the Hawker Sea Hawk, Westland Sea King, and Sea Harrier, each with its own unique story. These aircraft are displayed on raised platforms, allowing visitors to admire them from all angles. The indoor gallery offers a deep dive into naval aviation history, with exhibits focused on naval armament, uniforms, and photographs. Highlights include models of the INS Vikrant and INS Viraat, depictions of the INS Vikrant's role in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, and a granite plaque paying tribute to those who served the country. Visitors can also see vintage torpedoes, rockets, and depth charges, as well as equipment like ejection seats and air suits. The museum also serves as an educational platform, highlighting the contributions of naval aviation to India's defense. It is a source of inspiration for those interested in aviation and naval history.
