Car
If you are driving from Gulmarg to Vare-Kanoul Nag / Frozen Lake 2 / Alpathar Lake, head towards the Gulmarg Gondola Station. Park your car in the designated parking area near the Gondola Station. From there, take the Gulmarg Gondola, which is a cable car that will take you to higher altitudes. The Gondola has two phases: the first phase takes you to the Kongdoori Station and the second phase will take you to the Apharwat Peak. The cost for the Gondola ticket is approximately INR 1,000 for the first phase and INR 600 for the second phase. After reaching the Apharwat Peak, you can hike towards Vare-Kanoul Nag / Frozen Lake 2 / Alpathar Lake, which is a short trek from the peak.

Public Transportation (Shared Taxi)
If you prefer public transportation, you can take a shared taxi from Gulmarg to the Gulmarg Gondola Station. Shared taxis can be found at various points in Gulmarg and typically cost around INR 100-150 per person. Once you reach the Gondola Station, follow the same instructions as above to take the Gondola to Apharwat Peak. After enjoying the views, hike to Vare-Kanoul Nag / Frozen Lake 2 / Alpathar Lake.

For the adventurous, you can hike directly from the Gulmarg town center to Vare-Kanoul Nag / Frozen Lake 2 / Alpathar Lake. This trek is approximately 7 km and may take around 2-3 hours depending on your pace. Ensure you carry enough water, snacks, and suitable trekking gear, as the path can be steep and challenging. Follow the trail signs from the main road leading towards the Gondola Station, and look for the markers that guide you towards the lake.
