If you're traveling by car, the best route to reach Shankaracharya Hill from the city center of Srinagar is to head towards Durgjan. Start from Lal Chowk and take the Boulevard Road (Dal Lake road) towards Nishat Garden. After about 3 km, turn right onto the road leading to Shankaracharya Temple. The road will take you uphill, and you will reach the parking area near the temple. Note that parking may incur a small fee (around INR 50-100). From the parking lot, it's a short hike up to the temple entrance.

Public Transport (Bus/Auto-Rickshaw)
For those using public transport, you can catch a local bus from the bus stand in Lal Chowk that heads towards Durgjan. Look for buses with 'Shankaracharya' or 'Durgjan' signs. The fare is very affordable, typically around INR 20-30. Once you arrive at Durgjan, you can take an auto-rickshaw for the last leg of the journey to the foot of Shankaracharya Hill, which may cost around INR 100-150. Please note that auto-rickshaw drivers may request a higher fare, so it’s advisable to negotiate beforehand.

If you're already in the vicinity of Durgjan and prefer to walk, you can start from the main road and follow the signs leading to Shankaracharya Temple. The trail is well-marked and provides a scenic view of the surrounding area, but be prepared for a steep incline. The hike from the base to the temple generally takes about 30-45 minutes, depending on your pace. Wear comfortable shoes and carry water as the path can be strenuous.
