Getting There

• Taxi

  From the main market area in Shillong, head to the nearest taxi stand. You can find one near Police Bazar. Take a taxi to Laitlum Canyon, which is approximately 22 km away. It's best to confirm with the driver that they know the location. The journey will take around 45 minutes.

• Shared Taxi/Local Transport

  You can take a shared taxi from Police Bazar to Laitlum Canyon. Look for taxis heading towards the 'Laitlum' route, and share with other passengers to reduce costs. The shared taxi will drop you off near the entrance to the canyon. Make sure to ask the driver to let you know when you reach your destination.

• Local Bus

  From the main market, you can take a bus to Mawkynrew, which is a nearby area. Buses are available from the bus stop at Police Bazar. Once you reach Mawkynrew, you will need to take a local taxi or ask for directions to Laitlum Canyon, as it is approximately 5 km away from the bus drop-off point.

• Walking (if nearby)

  If you are staying at a hotel or guest house close to the outskirts of Shillong, you might consider walking to Laitlum Canyon. Follow the main road out of Shillong, and once you reach the outskirts, look for signs leading to Laitlum. It's a scenic walk but be prepared for the elevation and bring water.
