Car
If you're traveling by car, start your journey from Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. Head south on the NH10 towards Namchi. After approximately 70 km, you'll reach Namchi. Continue on the road until you see signs for Ravangla, then turn left towards Ravangla. Bhalleydhunga is located within the Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary, which is about 12 km from Ravangla. Follow the signs to the sanctuary, and you will arrive at Bhalleydhunga. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for the hilly terrain. The total drive will take around 3 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions.
Public Transport
For those using public transportation, take a shared taxi or a bus from Gangtok to Ravangla. The buses depart frequently from the Sikkim National Transport (SNT) bus stand. The journey to Ravangla will take approximately 3-4 hours. Once you reach Ravangla, you'll need to hire a local taxi or take a shared jeep to Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary, which is about 12 km away. Ensure to negotiate the fare in advance. In total, including the taxi from Ravangla to the sanctuary, expect the journey to take around 5 hours.
Trekking
For the adventurous, consider trekking to Bhalleydhunga from Ravangla. Start at the Ravangla town center and follow the trail towards Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary. The trek is about 6 km and can take approximately 2-3 hours, depending on your pace. It offers stunning views of the surrounding landscapes.
