Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car from Sikkim, head towards the town of Gangtok first. From Gangtok, take the NH10 highway towards Siliguri. After approximately 100 km, you will reach the town of Siliguri. From Siliguri, take the road towards Darjeeling, which is about 65 km away. The road is well-marked, and you will pass through beautiful tea gardens. Upon reaching Darjeeling, follow the signs to Tiger Hill. It is about 11 km from Darjeeling town center, and the road is steep and narrow. Be prepared for a 30-45 minute drive uphill. Ensure your vehicle can handle hilly terrain, and be cautious of weather conditions.

• Public Transportation

  From Sikkim, you can take a shared taxi or a bus to Siliguri. The shared taxi from Gangtok to Siliguri typically costs around INR 500-700. Once you reach Siliguri, head to the taxi stand and take a shared jeep to Darjeeling, which will cost you about INR 200-300. The journey takes around 3-4 hours. After arriving in Darjeeling, you can hire a local taxi or take a shared jeep to Tiger Hill. The fare for a taxi from Darjeeling to Tiger Hill is usually around INR 800-1000 for a round trip.

• Trekking

  For the adventurous, trekking from Darjeeling to Tiger Hill is an option, although it is recommended only for those in good physical condition. The trek is about 11 km and can take approximately 3-4 hours uphill. Start early in the morning to enjoy the sunrise at Tiger Hill. You can ask locals for directions as the trails are sometimes not well-marked.
