History of Trivandrum

Trivandrum, now known as Thiruvananthapuram, traces its roots back to ancient times. It is believed to have been established by King Solomon, who traded here around 1036 BCE. The city’s name is derived from the Malayalam words 'Thiru-Anantha-Puram', meaning 'City of Lord Ananta', a reference to the deity of the Padmanabhaswamy Temple.
