    Public Transit

    If you're starting from downtown Des Moines, head to the nearest bus stop and catch the DART Bus Route 60, which travels south towards SE 14th St. After about 20 minutes, get off at the SE 14th St and E Army Post Rd stop. From there, walk east on E Army Post Rd for about 0.5 miles until you reach SE 5th St. Turn right (south) onto SE 5th St and continue walking for about 0.3 miles. Fort Des Moines Park will be on your left at 7200 SE 5th St.

    Bicycle

    If you have access to a bicycle, start from the downtown area and head south on the Des Moines River Trail. Follow the trail until you reach the SE 14th St bridge. Cross the bridge and continue onto SE 14th St. After about a mile, take a left onto E Army Post Rd. Continue to SE 5th St, where you will turn right. Fort Des Moines Park will be located on your left at 7200 SE 5th St. This route is around 4 miles and takes approximately 20-30 minutes by bike.

    Walking

    For those who prefer walking, if you're in the downtown area, head south on 3rd St towards E Army Post Rd. After about 0.7 miles, turn right onto E Army Post Rd and continue walking until you reach SE 5th St. Turn right onto SE 5th St and walk south for about 0.3 miles. Fort Des Moines Park will be on your left at 7200 SE 5th St. This walk takes approximately 30-40 minutes.
