The village began in the early 1970s, with the relocation of a church to Seminole Valley Park. Over the years, buildings threatened by construction, including the building of Interstate 380, were moved to the site. In 1980, the 1855 home of Henry Usher, an early landholder in the area, was added. The village was named Ushers Ferry in 1986, commemorating Dyer Usher, Henry's cousin, who operated a ferry across the Cedar River in the 1830s. Explore a variety of buildings, including a one-room schoolhouse, a saloon, a church, and various homes and businesses, all furnished to reflect the period.
