Follow the R178 until you reach the town of Cavan. Once in Cavan, take the N55 towards Granard. After Granard, continue on the N55 until you reach the town of Longford. From Longford, take the N4 towards Galway. Continue on the N4 until you reach the town of Athlone. From Athlone, take the N61 towards Ballinasloe. Continue on the N61 until you reach the junction for the N6. Take the N6 towards Galway. Once in Galway, follow signs for the ferry terminal to Inis Meain or Inis Oirr, where you can catch a ferry to Inishmore. The ferry ride will take approximately 40 minutes, and you will need to purchase tickets at the terminal, with prices around €20 for a return trip.

For those using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Cavan to Dublin. Buses run frequently throughout the day. From Dublin, you will need to catch a train to Galway. The train from Dublin to Galway takes approximately 2.5 hours. Once in Galway, you can take a taxi or public bus to the ferry terminal. The bus to the ferry terminal takes around 10 minutes. At the ferry terminal, purchase your ticket for the ferry to Inishmore. The ferry ride will take about 40 minutes, costing around €20 for a round trip.
