Getting There

  • Driving

    From Killybegs, follow the R263 towards Carrick. After approximately 5 km, look for a brown signpost indicating 'Fintra Strand'. Turn right at the signpost and continue down the short, steep road to the beach car park. Parking is free, but the car park can fill up quickly during peak season. An overflow car park is available near the clock tower. Be mindful that the road is steep and narrow.

    The closest bus stop to Fintra Beach is located on Main Street in Killybegs, approximately 3.5 km from the beach. Bus routes 490 and 492 serve this stop. From the bus stop, it is approximately a 46-minute walk to Fintra Beach. A taxi from Killybegs to Fintra Bay would cost approximately €10-€15.

  • Walking

    From the center of Killybegs, follow the R263 west towards Carrick. The walk to Fintra Bay is approximately 5 km and will take around an hour. Be aware that there is no dedicated pedestrian path along the R263, so exercise caution and be mindful of traffic. Once you see the brown sign post pointing to “Fintra Strand” , turn right at that sign and you will have a short stretch of reasonably steep road leading down to the beach's car park.
