Getting there

Car

If you're traveling by car, start from the town of Glendalough. Head west on the R756 towards Laragh. Continue on this road until you reach the junction with the R755. Turn left onto the R755 and follow the signs for Wicklow Gap. After about 10 kilometers, you will reach a fork; keep right to stay on the R756. Follow this road for approximately another 5 kilometers until you see a sign for Lough Firrib. Turn left and follow the narrow road for about 2 kilometers until you reach the car park near the lake.

Public Transportation

For those using public transport, take a bus from Dublin to Glendalough. Bus services such as the 133 or 183 will take you directly to Glendalough Visitor Centre. From there, you can consider taking a local taxi to Lough Firrib which is approximately a 15-minute drive. It's advisable to book your taxi in advance as services may have limited availability. Be aware that taxi fares can vary, but expect to pay around €20-€30 for the trip.

Walking

If you prefer to hike to Lough Firrib after arriving in Glendalough, you can take the scenic route. From the Glendalough Visitor Centre, follow the green trail signs towards the Spink. After about 3 kilometers, you'll find a path that leads towards Lough Firrib. This route is approximately 5 kilometers long and can take around 1.5 to 2 hours to walk. Ensure you have proper hiking gear and check the trail conditions before setting out.
