From Ein Gedi, walk to the nearest bus stop, which is located near the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve entrance. Catch the Egged bus number 486 towards Jerusalem. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Make sure to inform the driver you want to get off at the 'Chapel of the Ascension' stop. Once you arrive, walk a short distance east to reach the chapel.

If you are feeling adventurous and enjoy hiking, you can take a scenic route by walking from Ein Gedi to Jerusalem. Follow the marked trails heading north through the Judean Desert, which will lead you towards the outskirts of Jerusalem. Please note that this is a long trek, approximately 30 kilometers, and should only be undertaken by experienced hikers with plenty of water and supplies.

Shared Taxi (Sherut)
Head to the nearest shared taxi (sherut) pickup point in Ein Gedi, typically near the Ein Gedi Hotel. Take a sherut heading to Jerusalem, which operates frequently. The ride will take around 1 hour. Request to be dropped off at the 'Chapel of the Ascension' stop. From there, it's a short walk to the chapel.
