From Catania, head to the central bus station (Stazione Autobus) located at Via Archimede, 10. You can take bus line 4 or walk, as it is approximately 1 km from the city center. At the bus station, purchase a ticket for the AST bus heading to 'Nicolosi' or 'Etna'. The journey takes about 1 hour. Get off at the 'Nicolosi - Etna Sud' stop, which is one of the main access points to Mount Etna.

Funivia (Cable Car)
Once you arrive at 'Nicolosi - Etna Sud', look for signs directing you to the Funivia dell'Etna (cable car). The cable car station is a short walk from the bus stop. Purchase a ticket for the cable car, which takes you up to approximately 2,500 meters. This provides stunning views of the volcano and takes about 15 minutes.

At the top of the cable car station, you can either join a guided tour or hike to the summit, depending on your preference. Guided tours are available at the cable car station and provide transportation via off-road vehicles to the summit craters. To return to Catania, simply retrace your steps: take the off-road vehicle back to the cable car station, then ride the cable car down to 'Nicolosi - Etna Sud'.
