Getting There

  • Train

    From Herculaneum, walk to the nearby Ercolano Scavi train station, which is about a 15-minute walk. Once at the station, purchase a ticket for the Circumvesuviana train towards Napoli. Board the train and travel to the Napoli Porta Nolana station, which takes approximately 20 minutes. After arriving, exit the station and transfer to the metro line 2 (the blue line) towards Pozzuoli. Ride for one stop to Napoli Centrale. From Napoli Centrale, follow the signs to the Metro line 1 (the yellow line) and take it towards Garibaldi. Get off at the Garibaldi stop, then transfer to the Metro line 2 once more, heading back towards Napoli. Get off at the Pietrarsa – San Giorgio stop. The Museo Nazionale Ferroviario di Pietrarsa is about a 10-minute walk from the station. Follow the signs to Via Pietrarsa, and you will arrive at the museum.
