This Catholic church, whose origins date back to the 5th or 6th century, was erected on the ruins of a Roman watering place, with the structure visible today primarily the result of 16th-century restoration. The church's architecture is a captivating blend of Romanesque and Baroque styles. Originally constructed with a single nave and lateral arcades, it was transformed in the 16th century into a three-nave church. The façade, completed in 1698, exemplifies Mannerist and Baroque influences. Inside, visitors can explore the trapezoidal crypt with five bays and three apses, as well as admire the 16th-century altar-piece depicting the martyrdom of St. Stephen and the lateral chapels adorned with 17th-century frescoes and stuccoes. The church also holds tombstones dating back to the 6th century.
