    Discover more about Terme

The Terme di Fiesole, or Roman Thermal Baths, are part of the Archaeological Area of Fiesole, offering a fascinating look into the town's Roman past. Constructed between the 1st century BC and 1st century AD, these baths were a significant social and recreational center for the inhabitants of Faesulae. The baths included the classic Roman bathing sequence: a *frigidarium* (cold room), *tepidarium* (warm room), and *calidarium* (hot room), along with pools and exercise areas. The complex was entered via a monumental arcade, leading to open spaces with tanks and spaces for physical activity. The baths were rebuilt in the 3rd century AD but were later abandoned and used as a cemetery in the following century. Excavations in 1891 revealed the three visible arches that formed the terrace of the baths. Today, visitors can explore the remains of these ancient baths, imagining the bustling activity that once filled these spaces. The Archaeological Museum of Fiesole displays artifacts discovered at the site, providing additional context and understanding of Roman life in Fiesole.
