Discover more about Villa Pecori Giraldi: Info Point e Chini Museo APERTI / Museo dei Bambini CHIUSO

Villa Pecori Giraldi, located in Borgo San Lorenzo, is a significant historical building that houses the Chini Museo. The villa, originally a fortress owned by the Giraldi family in the 13th century, became the property of Count Antonio Pecori in 1748, who then added the Giraldi name to his own. In 1979, the Pecori Giraldi family donated the villa to the municipality of Borgo San Lorenzo. The villa's architecture showcases a Renaissance style with a crenellated tower, which was restored in 1902. Inside, the villa is adorned with decorations by the Chini family, spanning several generations. Artists like Pietro Alessio Chini, Leto Chini, Galileo Chini, and Tito Chini contributed to the villa's artistic embellishments. The Chini Museo within the villa documents the artistic journey of Galileo Chini and his family, known for their ceramic production. The museum displays a collection of majolica, stoneware, glass, and preparatory sketches. The museum is a key part of the Museo Diffuso, a network of museums in the area. Visitors can explore the family's diverse works, from architectural pieces to ceramic furnishings and stained glass. The 'Salotto del Fumo' displays Art Deco works from 1920-1939, while the 'Sala degli Stemmi' features coats of arms of the Pecori Giraldi family and related Florentine nobles.
