Getting There

• Train and Bus

  From Orvieto, start at the Orvieto train station (Stazione di Orvieto). Take a train to Viterbo Porta Fiorentina, which is typically about a 30-minute journey. Once you arrive at Viterbo Porta Fiorentina, exit the train station and head to the nearby bus terminal. Look for a bus heading to Caprarola or Viterbo Cimitero. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as it may not run frequently. Get off the bus at the stop for Lake Vico (Lago di Vico), which should take approximately 30-40 minutes. Follow the signs towards the lake, which is a short walk from the bus stop.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle in Orvieto. Start your journey from the city center and follow the signs toward the Viterbo road (SS71). The ride to Lake Vico is approximately 20 km and takes around 1.5 - 2 hours. Be sure to wear a helmet and stay on the designated bike paths where available. The route offers beautiful views of the countryside, but be cautious of traffic.

• Walking

  Walking to Lake Vico from Orvieto is quite ambitious, as it is about 20 km away. However, if you are up for the challenge, you can follow the SS71 road towards Viterbo. Starting from the city center, head south towards the main road and follow the pedestrian paths. The journey will take approximately 5-6 hours, so it’s advisable to start early in the morning. Bring plenty of water and snacks, and enjoy the scenic views along the way.
