From Taormina, walk to the local bus station (Stazione degli Autobus) located near the main square (Piazza IX Aprile). Take the Interbus or Etna Trasporti bus heading to Messina. The journey takes approximately 1 hour. Make sure to check the schedule for departure times. Once you arrive at the Messina bus terminal, exit the terminal and follow the signs towards the city center.

Head to the Taormina-Giardini train station, which is about a 20-minute walk from the main tourist area. Once at the station, purchase a ticket to Messina. Trains run frequently, and the trip will take around 40 minutes. Upon arriving at Messina Centrale station, exit the station and walk towards the main square (Piazza Duomo) which is about a 20-minute walk straight down Corso Cavour.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can walk to Messina from Taormina, which is about a 30 km journey. This is not recommended due to the distance and hilly terrain, but if you choose to do so, head down towards the coast and follow the coastline road towards Messina. This will take several hours and is best for experienced hikers.
